The pH of water measures its acidity or alkalinity. Water with a pH of less than 7.0 is acidic, above 7.0 is alkaline, and a pH of 7.0 is neutral.
The lower the pH value is below 7.0 the greater the acidity, and the higher the pH value is above the 7.0 the more alkaline. Acidic water (less than 7.0) is corrosive to pipes, appliances and anything that is metal that water comes in contact with.

The principles of operation is such that the pH increasing media “Calcium” is sacrificial, that is it slowly dissolves during the process of increasing the pH. The rate this occurs is proportional to the pH increase and amount of water used,.
In most cases you will only have to add media once every 18-24 months depending on volume of water used. There is no need to backwash this system and waste hundreds of gallons of water a year as well as waste the sacrificial media. Very dangerous acid neutralizer system. Outside rain spouts installed by a home warranty company to fix a water leak. We would like to know why? Caustic soda container, designed to raise pH, but it is very dangerous. If caustic soda is splashed in your eyes, this can cause blindness. Unsupported filter made changing filter very risky.
